Paddle Measurements from Knud Rasmussen Museum at Ilulissat

I measured two kayak paddles at the Knud Rasmussen Museum at Ilulissat both of which were different from each other and completely different from the thickness and width

Although I did not measure the actual thickness of the bone edge it appeared to be about 1/8 of an inch thick being fastened with bone nails at 1 cm intervals.

The bone nails resembled round finishing nails in general shape and my photos and close up video footage will show this detail.

Knud Rasmussen Museum - Ilulissat This was a very different paddle because the blade at the end was elliptical becoming square at 90 cm and resolving to diamond shape cross section with the long axis opposite the paddle blades at 100 cm with a distinct actually an exaggerated ridge running as a back bone from the loom part way down the face of the blades gradually flattening out. This paddle was located on the third floor hanging from the beam 3rd from the top. Dimensions are; total length 215 cm long, with a blade 96.5 cm long and a loom length of 22 cm. The bone tip length was 12 cm, the outer bone edge which butted up to the bone tip was 53 cm long and the inner very narrow bone edge was 32 cm long.
