Kayak paddle given to Upernavik Museum from Odense Byter Museum in Denmark
originally collected at Manitsoq in 1890’s appears to be very similar to a storm
paddle I measured 6 95 from Kiidlit an island on
the western edge of Disko Bay This paddle has a very distinct ridge down the middle of the
blade which the paddle from Kiidlit did not have. This is a very thick paddle Total length is 200 cm Bone edge is 1 cm wide by 39 cm long by 0.75 cm thick Bone tip is 8 cm long Transition from paddle blade to shaft starts at 75 cm from
the tip. |
